How To Easily Remove Every Type Of Stain From Your Carpet Different types of stains require different types of cleaning solutions and methods. In this blog, we will be showing you the best ways to remove common stains from your carpet. The first step to removing any stain is to identify what type of stain it is. Is it a protein-based stain like milk or an organic stain like wine? Knowing the type of stain is essential because it will determine what process you will use to remove it. If you’re not sure which type of stain it is, you can use a black light to help identify it. Once you’ve identified the type of stain, you’ll want to create the appropriate cleaning solution. Generally, a mild dish detergent or carpet-specific cleaner, such as Scotch-Gard, is usually best for cleaning soluble organic stains, like wine and coffee. For oil-based or protein-based stains, such as grease and milk, you’ll want to use a greasy stain remover. If the stain is from pets, you’ll likely need an enzyme cleaner that’s specifically designed to break up pet urine. Once you’ve chosen the right cleaner, apply a small amount of it to the stained area and allow it to sit for a few minutes. To help break up the stain, use a clean white cloth or soft-bristle brush. Don’t rub the stain, as this will only spread it. Instead, gently dab and scrub the stain using as little friction as possible. Once you’ve removed as much of the stain as you can, use a wet vacuum or shop vac to remove any excess moisture.
