1 - Baking Soda and Vinegar: One of the most effective DIY carpet cleaning methods is using a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. Simply sprinkle baking soda over the stained area, spray or pour vinegar on top, and let it sit for a few hours before scrubbing and vacuuming. 2 - Club Soda: For fresh stains, club soda can work wonders. Blot the stained area with a cloth soaked in club soda, and repeat until the stain is lifted. This method is particularly useful for removing wine and beer stains. 3 - Salt: To tackle greasy or oily stains on your carpet, sprinkle salt over the affected area. Let it sit for a few hours to absorb the stain, then vacuum it up. You may need to repeat the process for stubborn stains. 4 - Dish Soap Solution: Mixing a few drops of dish soap with warm water can help remove various stains from your carpet. Dip a clean cloth into the solution, blot the stain, and repeat until the stain disappears. Remember to blot, not rub, to prevent spreading the stain. 5 - Hydrogen Peroxide: For tough stains like blood or coffee, hydrogen peroxide can be a lifesaver. Mix a small amount of hydrogen peroxide with dish soap, apply it to the stain, and let it sit for a few minutes. Blot the area with a clean cloth and repeat if necessary until the stain is gone.
