'Oh what a world!' The snow is melting! Know what that means? Check those sump pumps! These water warriors in our homes are super important to keep an eye on! Besides the snow melting the ground water/ice will start melting as well. That means the sump pumps are going to be kicking into over drive. Some important tips: Make sure the discharge lines are not frozen or blocked with snow/ice. If this happens the water will just stay in the pit and not get pumped out. Which means your poor pump will not turn off and eventually burn out. Also make sure that the water gets as far away from the house as possible, at this time without the discharge line that may be hard, but the water will end up right back in the home causing the pump to run extra as well. However at least then the pump will be able to shut off in intervals preventing it from over heating. Not sure what to do? Let us know!
