When doing interior design for my clients I always look for the opportunities to improve any other area of the house which can be improved along the way. This home in Bristol, CT has stunning backyard with paved patio, fire pit area, and outdoor kitchen. But very little of that beauty could ever be seen out of the small kitchen window, and dining room had no window overlooking the back yard at all. Designing the kitchen in this house I was able to address those issues, and the building itself looks more balanced now. The first photo shows the new window added in the dining area (on the left), a bigger window above the kitchen sink (in the middle), and a transom above the sliding door (on the right). The transom helped to level up the sliding door with the windows since the slider was not tall enough (see the second photo showing the house before). And, of course, everyone in the house can now see more of the stunning backyard (see video). Wouldn’t you want to enjoy it as much as possible?
