FAQs

How long does it take to move?

MyProMovers has a system that can calculate the time based on the list of your inventory and distance between locations. Every move is different with many variables so it can sometimes be difficult to pinpoint the exact length of a move. There are lots of factors that go into the actual length of your move, such as difficult access, stairs, or a long walk to the truck from your front door. We always recommend reserving your loading dock and elevators for a quick and seamless move.

What should I do?

Don't stress - we'll do our best to remain flexible. We understand there can be problems with the complicated process of selling and buying a home, and it's not your fault. We do the best we can to adjust our service based on your changing needs. We should know at least four days before your move date if the time needs to be changed. If you don't have that much notice, that's okay too, but you may lose your deposit and we can't guarantee availability for your new move date.

How is the cost of my move determined?

When estimating a move, we look at various factors such as the amount of furniture, the weight of that furniture, if there are any tough-to-access areas in your home with heavy or complex items, and the distance between locations. The lay of the land in and around your home can also affect our moving speed, so it's important to know about any tight corners, stairwells, over sized items, or complex items such as bunk beds, wall-units, large desks, wall-to-ceiling headboards, etc. It is very important you let your personal moving assistant know about any exceptionally heavy items such as pianos, gun safes and hot tubs. We may need additional movers, specialized tools and materials to handle the excess weight and difficulty.

What are items of extraordinary value?

In the moving industry, items valued at more than $100 per pound are known as "articles of extraordinary value." All "items of extraordinary value" must be declared to us prior to your move date and additional insurance should be secured. Although you might have other articles of extraordinary value, the following list should help you identify items that might fall under this classification: jewelry, furs, art and coin collections, crystal, figurines, antiques, Oriental rugs, precious stones or gems, china and silverware. Shipments that move under the Released Value Liability program, in which the declared value of the shipment would be 60 cents per pound per article, would not be covered by the provisions applicable to "articles of extraordinary value."
