After the First Frost: Once the first frost has hit, the grass will begin to go dormant for the winter. Mowing dormant grass can damage it. It’s best to let the grass remain as it is after the first frost. 3. Late Season Growth: In some regions, there might be a brief warm spell after the first frost, causing the grass to grow again. In such cases, you can mow one more time, but be gentle and don’t cut it too short. 4. Going into Winter: Aim for a grass height of around 2 to 2.5 inches going into winter.
