Buying a home can be scary as shit, right!? I mean, especially when you have no idea what’s happening with the economy or where your life is headed? And, there’s almost an overwhelming amount of info that is hard to decipher through. Where are do you even start!?!
So,…how the hell do you ACTUALLY buy a house?! n
Here are the first 3 things you need to do to start the process of buying a home:

1. It is ABSOLUTELY, hands down, the most important step when it comes to home buying. Please, for the love of god, interview and research realtors before choosing someone. Agents are not all the same. Some specialize in certain neighborhoods or house types. Some only sell new builds. Some only sell luxury. And you want to make sure that their vibe fits you. Start with asking friends and family of their agents and experiences. And, you can use the site RateMyAgent.com to scope out real reviews of the agents you’re interviewing too! (Stick around and I’ll post a handy guide to picking an agent and what to ask!) n
2. Once you secure the Realtor, they will be able to hook you up with their favorite lenders to help you complete the dream team for buying your home. Again, not all lenders are equal either. And, don’t you DARE just use some crusty dude from your local bank. Different lenders can offer different grants and first time buyer help. Finding the right lender is CRUCIAL to saving you 💰. (More on this too later!)n
3. Start pinching those pennies. Don’t worry about how much yet. Just literally start saving $5 here and there into an account that is off to the side. You’re going to need to pay for smaller stuff like an inspection ($700+), appraisal ($650), moving supplies ($500). And even if you don’t have a red cent to your name… just start where you can. Saving change from your cushions. The point is to just start- no matter how long you think it might take you. I’ve had first time buyers in their 60s! There is no “correct timeline” for when it’s right for you. n
