We just completed the Cape Cod siding and trim package we used Certainteed vinyl cedar board 7 inch insulated siding. 7 inch allows us to nail it panel securely. Some panels like triple six are so far apart on the nailing apron they are not secure we found this panel to be very strong. We installed Tyvek vapor barrier and then the insulated 7 inch panel over top. We also built out the rafter tales so the gutter sits plum on the facia boards we ventilated the soffits so the intake Ventilation systems worked with the Richmond we installed when we put the roof on a couple of years ago customer was very pleased at the look of the wide 7 inch siding panels which mimic higher and Hardie Board panels a job took 4 1/2 days we remove the wood shake on the front and install plywood On the front because there was no wall board behind the woodshake we found animal damage mice had removed a lot of the insulation in the walls so we will replace that in areas that we had access to. The house is very well insulated and the customer is very please. No more mice and no more Cold and no more painting and the house is the prettiest on the block .
