5 Reasons To Prune Your Trees This Winter. The warmer months can be overwhelmingly hectic with a lot of maintenance in your yard. Tree trimming (pruning) is a great maintenance service to be done in the winter. Winter pruning has many advantages over pruning in the warmer months. So what are the advantages of pruning your trees during the winter? 1. Easier to see the structure without the leaves. 2. Less likely to interrupt the tree’s growth cycle and reduces stress such as drought, pests, and diseases. 3. Easier to see areas of a tree with dead wood. 4. Reduce the spread of diseases which are easily spread during the warmer months such as Dutch elm disease and oak wilt. 5. Reduces the impact to sensitive landscapes such as in areas of your yard with landscaping or in a wetland.
