SHOULD YOU DETACH YOUR DOWNSPOUTS FOR THE WINTER SEASON? | Downspouts and downspout extensions are a key part of your gutter system. You may have heard or read people remove them for the winter season — but is it worth the trouble? In today’s post, Advantage Seamless Gutters takes a look at whether or not it’s a good idea to remove downspouts for the season. Facebook Twitter Email Share Downspouts and downspout extensions are a key part of your gutter system. You may have heard or read people remove them for the winter season — but is it worth the trouble? In today’s post, Advantage Seamless Gutters takes a look at whether or not it’s a good idea to remove downspouts for the season. Should You Detach Your Downspouts for the Winter Season? What Happens When You Remove Your Downspouts and Downspout Extensions for the Winter? It may not rain as often during the winter season. However, you have to consider that snow does melt, and gutters without their downspouts or their extensions will not be able to route the meltwater properly. This will expose your home to the same risks of damage presented by unrouted rainwater — damage to the house foundations, siding, even flooding inside your house through the basement windows. Some people recommend removing just the downspout extensions for the season because they may form ice blockages. In the case of flexible extensions, they may move around and get covered or blocked by snow.

FAQs

I have a question about my roofing materials, who should I talk with about that?

Your Premier Representative. They can help you with selecting your roofing materials, show you shingle samples and go over all the details of your roofing project with you. Pretty much any question you have about your project can and should be answered by your Premier Representative.

Why is there is a ladder at my house leading up to my roof?

We have put it there for your inspector to come inspect your roof. Roofing companies are required to supply the ladder for inspectors. We will come back to pick it up once we know the inspector has been to your house. Typically, this is the same day we left it there, but occasionally it will be a couple of days.

I want to pay my bill with a credit card but the Payment Center assesses a convenience fee to do so. Why?

Premier has rolled out an expanded credit card program in 2023 as a convenience to our customers. Because payment by credit cards is non-standard for insurance restoration projects, Premier assesses a Convenience Fee on any balances paid by credit card. Please note that Premier does not accept American Express. You can avoid paying the 2% Convenience Fee by choosing to pay your open balance by ACH (direct deposit) or by paper check.

More detailed information is available on the FAQ page of our website.
