How Are Furnace Filters Rated?

Furnace filters are typically rated using the minimum efficiency reporting value (MERV). A higher MERV rating indicates that the filter can remove more airborne particles than a filter with a lower rating. While MERV is the industry-standard rating system for HVAC systems, other rating systems exist.

How can I make my indoor air smell better?

Air fresheners and candles only cover up the smells inside. A home air purification unit, using UC-C lamps, can disinfect the air, removing viruses and bacteria and breaking down the pollutant molecules and removing them. Regular air filter changes and ductwork cleaning also help remove the smelly mold and mildew spores from your air and pollutants and make it smell better.

Do I need to worry about carbon monoxide in my home?

Yes, carbon monoxide is dangerous to people and animals. If you notice that you're feeling more lethargic than usual, and everyone in the home is, as well, you may wish to have your carbon monoxide levels checked.

Why is my ductwork popping when I turn on my furnace?

This can be caused by loose connections between the separate pieces of ducts. Or, it could mean that the duct design itself is inefficient. We can inspect your ductwork for you and determine whether we need to simply fix it or if a reconfiguration would be more helpful.

Why is my air conditioner freezing up?

This could be caused by a couple of things. First, your coolant could be low, which causes the condenser coil to freeze over. Second, you may have inadequate airflow to the unit or the intake vent. Try moving anything that's in the way of the a/c unit and have a professional come to inspect the appliance, change the filter, and top off the coolant.
