Why is it necessary to service my AC unit every year?
Servicing the AC every year is the best way to stay ahead of any problems or major repairs. A malfunctioning system in extremely hot temperatures is not only uncomfortable but it is also unsafe. An annual tune-up by a professional & licensed HVAC contractor ensures your system is clean & is operating both efficiently & safely.
Why does my air conditioner need refrigerant every year?
An ac system that needs to be recharged every year is leaking and needs to be repaired. Loss of refrigerant will cause longer run times and decreased efficiency. Contact a licensed HVAC professional to complete the necessary repairs.
At what temperature should I keep my thermostat?
We recommend the highest temperature at which you and your family are comfortable. For most people in our area, that is 72-76 degrees. This will maximize your energy savings and still keep the home comfortable.
What should I check before calling an HVAC professional?
Before you call us, make sure your air filters are clean. Make sure your thermostat is functional and set correctly. If you know where the electrical disconnects and/or breakers are located, check to be sure those are on as well. Always note any unusual discoloration or smells around electrical devices. If any of these are noticed, STOP IMMEDIATELY, and call for service.
Should I buy a bigger AC unit?
Bigger is NOT always better. Up-sizing is only recommended if your current unit was not sized right initially, or if you have added onto your home recently. Buying an ac unit that is too big can shorten the life span of the equipment and result in poor humidity control.
