How often should I have my gas fireplace serviced?

Most manufacturers recommend once a year. We've found that unless your glass gets dirty or the pilot flame doesn't look quite right or doesn't stay lit, you typically can go every other year.

Should I leave my pilot light running during the summer?

It depends. Typically it would be OK to turn off fireplaces on the main and upper levels. In a basement, due to humidity, we would recommend that you run the pilot light year round.
