FAQs

Why is it important to get the proper size?

While there are several factors involved in choosing a new heating and air conditioning system, your first step is to consult with an HVAC contractor. The technicians at Comfort Flow will provide you with an energy audit and a load calculation for your particular home. This helps locate any areas that could use improvement, such as air sealing, and also ensure that we properly size your new system. Getting the right size is important for many reasons, and you should always hire a professional contractor to perform any load calculations or assessment of your current system if you are thinking of upgrading. We can also go over the different efficiency ratings and explain what they mean.

How long can I expect my new heating and air conditioning system to last?

A good heating and air conditioning system should last anywhere from 10 to 20 years, but this can vary depending on the type of system you have and other factors. Routine maintenance and proper installation are also both key factors in ensuring that you get the most out of your investment.

How can I lower my utility bills with a new heating and air conditioning system?

You would be surprised at how much more efficient a new heater or air conditioner can save you. New systems with higher SEER and HPSF ratings could save you a bundle each year, which adds up over time. Keep in mind that installing a more efficient system will only provide savings if your home is properly insulated and sealed.

How does a heat pump heat and cool the home?

A heat pump can heat and cool your home by using an outdoor compressor and indoor coils to draw in the air from outside and use efficiently for indoor comfort. In the summer, the refrigerant cools the warm air coming into the home, and in the winter, this process is reversed.

Why are some rooms in my home too hot or too cold?

Most likely, you have an airflow issue, which can be caused by a number of factors. Dirty air filters, blocked vents, or dirty evaporator coils are some of the common culprits. If you have a forced air system, you could also have an issue with the air pressure inside the ductwork due to poor design or leaky ducts. Call Comfort Flow to help you get the right solution for hot and cold spots in your home.
